Climbing partners from Feb 12th to March 12th
posted by Nathan
Hi there,
I'm going to be heading into the valley in the next few days and should be staying there for about a month. I'm mostly into free climbing longer routes up to around 11+ (7a) but doesn't mean I won't go cragging on 5.8. Also I'll have a double rack with half ropes.
Also I was just wondering what kind of food I can find in Cochamo or if I should just bring everything from Puerto Montt.
My names Nathan and I can be reached at natmacd@gmail.com. Also I'll have a green BD tent up at the Refugio so don't hesitate to say hello :)
Thanks

Partners for March 15 to April 6
posted by Per Andersson
Hola!
I´m a 30 year old guy from Sweden spending around 3-5 days sometime between March 15th to April 6th in the Cochamo valley area. I do have some studies to do, so I will only head out to the valley when there is a decent forecast. I´ve done about three years of trad climbing, and safety is my #1 priority. I would like to get a good sample of the area and climb fast, rather than hangdog on the same route the whole day. I don´t mind if you have other preferences though. I also don´t mind early mornings or long and fast approaches. Got a single rack, tent and a rope. If you´d like o know more, email me on per160 at hotmail.com, check out my profile on mountainproject (http://www.mountainproject.com/u/106846731) or add me on facebook! Sorry for my poor Spanish&&
Cheers

Hola Diego,
Yes, I realize 5 days is very short, unfortunately I cannot afford any more time with my work commitments.
I am planning to crag and do shorter routes during my stay but if the weather is good and I can find the right partner, I'd love to jump on a bigger route.

I will be there too and have been for some weeks but 5 days is barely enough time to do a big wall here. You´ll get in only one route if you´re lucky. Calculate one day hike in. Next day a few hours to the base of a wall. Sleep. At least a full day to do one route. And then you got to hike back to the valley center. And then out again. You should replan your stay for a bit longer. Other wise you are rushing it.

Also I will be staying at the refugio during those dates if you want to find me in the valley.

Suerte.

Winter Season
posted by Samuel Santa Cruz
It may appear crazy but me with some friend went to la junta on the end of may. By that date there have been raining more than 7 days in a row and the trails were all rurn into little rivers. Nevertheless the views were something of another world. I had never seen the Selva Valdiviana as green and vivid as then. You could also see the waterfalls flying in the air because of the wind. It was somethin amazing.

Considering a trip in Nov/Dec 2011
posted by Natalie
Hello,
I am taking Nov+Dec to travel to South America, and I'm considering a trip to Cochamo for at least part of that time. I would love to climb if I can find partners. I have ~5 years of trad climbing experience, mostly in Yosemite but also elsewhere around the world. Solid 5.10 YDS leader (at least on crack).
Let me know if you'd be interested in meeting up with me or if you have any other beta for the area!

Hey Natalie,
I´m thinking of going to Cochamo at the end of November BUT I don´t have too much gear with me (just my own shoes and harness). I lead 5.10 but have never climbed trad-- even if we don´t climb the same routes maybe we can travel from Puerto Montt and hike in together!
